ALL ABOUT THE ARTIST

I'm a wiggle-loving, love-chasing multimedia artist based in Hot Springs, NC.
I grew up with very innovative and creative parents who taught me to chase my passion and encouraged my art, but also always said "but you still gotta make money.."
Theater stole my heart in high school even though I always thought I'd become a studio artist - it gave me a community of freaks like me and a playground for creativity. I spent years stage-managing and designing props after graduating with a BFA in stage management from VCU. I had the privilege of working with some of the coolest designers, directors, and performers in all kinds of settings including the Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center in DC.
A lot happened after I moved to Arizona - a lot of queer theatre and floral designing. My Floral designer boss became my mentor and I wouldn't be here today without the encouragement from her to start my business. In 2017, I decided to move from arizona to little old Marshall, NC -- and Plain with sprinkles was born. I love how much freedom and light that my business brought to me, my couples, and the wedding industry in Asheville. PWS specializes in LGBTQ+ weddings and an advocate for the queer community. (ask me about 2020 and having a wedding planning business - hah!)
In September 2024 - Hurricane Helene slammed Western North Carolina with historical flooding - devastating both Hot Springs and Marshall - the place I call home.
>> I felt a new chapter calling! My friends and I started a new organization - YES MAM - to help artists get to work to support the relief effort in Madison County, NC! It became obvious that I needed to share my own work too --
I have always been active in art for me or just as gifts to family and friends. Between boredom and adhd, I've tried like.. everything --
painting, drawing, knitting, cross stitching, paper maching, sculpturing, collaging, sewing, upholstery, home renovating, weaving, tufting, printmaking, crocheting.....
the list goes on! You name it - I've got a project I'm likely still in the middle of. (though -i've never done ceramics but i have taught classes for kids!)
But I only tried showing off only a handful of these skills in the past - and never for money. my biggest art collector so far is my brother - hah!
These wiggles and squiggly shapes living in my head were practically scratching to be let out of my head and heart, so here I am. ready to share my wiggly world with you!

ALWAYS WITH WIGGLES,
ERIN
